Water in Ngandanjika (DRCongo)
Nearly 750 million people do not have access to clean safe water. One of the greatest causes of poverty in Africa is the lack of access to clean drinking water. According to UNICEF the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of three countries in the world where more than 50% percent of the population has no access to safe drinking water.
Specially children and women in Ngandanjika (DRC) spend all day collecting dirty water from lakes or groundwaters, from private or open fields wells, to use in agriculture or at home; for personal use, clean or drink. That's why they become sick from waterborne illnesses and others, instead of assist at schools or universities. Water affects health and sanitation and first victims are children and women, once again. Besides, they carry these tens of litres of water on their heads, a hard work that should be ended.
